A socio-cultural group, the “Urhobo Indigenes In Edo” on Thursday in Benin endorsed Pastor Osagie Ize-Iyamu, a former Secretary to Edo state government for the forthcoming Edo gubernatorial election under the platform of the All Progressives Congress (APC).
The group led by its President, High Chief Dr. Victor Ejdelekpo JP, stated that they decided to endorse Pastor Osagie Ize-Iyamu based on his popular acceptability, political sagacity and intelligence.
Ejdelekpo said, that as a vibrant group, they decided to endorse him after a careful analysis of the persons who have indicated interest for the top seat at Dennis Osadebey Avenue.
“We cannot stay aloof in socio-political matters as they affect the people in the state, therefore we chose to pitch our tent with the “Man of the People”, Ize-Iyamu”.
He assured Ize-Iyamu, that as a group they will vigorously mobilize all Urhobos in the state to massively support his aspiration and ensure he emerges victorious.
Responding on behalf of Ize-Iyamu, Chief Frank Erewele (Okafi), narrated copiously the historic involvement of the Urhobos in national politics, stating that for those who played the Midwest and Bendel politics appreciated the capacity of the Urhobos as they played a very major role in Nigeria’s political development even till now.
Commending them for coming to identify with Ize-Iyamu, Chief Erewele added that “nobody offered you all anything to be here but you all as a group decided to join us. However, at the appropriate time we will all celebrate the expected positive development that Edo state will encounter”.
Describing, Ize-Iyamu as a man of high intellect, Erewele solicited for their continued unflinching support in actualizing the POI project.
