….wants rescue of Edo Commissioner
The frontline aspirant of the All Progressives Congress in Edo state, Pastor Osagie Ize Iyamu, has commended the Police for the arrest of the five kidnappers involved in the murder of Basil Odoji and Innocent Udoh, two members of the Lord’s Chosen church who were attacked whilst traveling from Lagos to Abuja.
The arrest of these five suspects was announced earlier today by the Edo state Commissioner of Police, Mr. Lawan Jimeta, who gave their names as Abdullahi Usman, Abdulkadiri Mohammed, Mohammed Lawan, Bello Umar and Musa Lawan.
Responding through a statement released by the Ize-Iyamu Support Organization, Pastor Osagie Ize-Iyamu said: “The death of Basil Odoji and Innocent Udoh is an unfortunate incident that should never have happened in the first place. It only further emphasized that we need to do more to secure the lives of our people and allow them to live freely without fear of attacks by criminals. However, I commend the Commissioner of Police, Mr. Lawan Jimeta and his men for securing the arrest of the perpetrators and with the hope that the bereaved families of the deceased will be given justice.”
He also appealed to the Police to intensify efforts to secure the release of Emmanuel Agbale, Edo state’s Commissioner for Science and Technology who was kidnapped days ago long Benin/Auchi highway by gunmen who killed his attached Police orderly.
He said: “I appeal to the Commissioner of Police to leave no stone unturned in securing the release of Emmanuel Agbale and arrest of his kidnappers for prosecution under our laws. His kidnap and prolonged absence is a traumatic event for his distressed family and could impair the people’s sense of safety and security in the state.”
“Given the times that we are in and the disruptions already witnessed in the local economy, we cannot afford to add concerns over security to the people’s growing worries.”
