The APC governorship candidate, Pastor Osagie Ize-Iyamu has promised that Akoko-Edo’s abundant natural resources will be properly harnessed to create jobs abd generate revenue for the local government and the state, when he becomes Edo state governor.
He stated this Thursday at Igarra during the party’s official campaign flagoff in Akoko-Edo local government area in continuation of the APC campaigns across local government areas in Edo North.
Pastor Ize-Iyamu said, "We will ensure after our swearing in, we will swing into action by using what God has used to bless you all to transform this local government."
On his Manifesto of Hope for Edo people christened SIMPLE Agenda, Akoko-Edo people engaged the APC candidate, by mentioning the acronyms of the ‘SIMPLE’, verbatim as he briefly explained what each letter stood for.
Elected Representatives of the locality who spoke at the rally like deputy Speaker and member representing Akoko-Edo constituency ll at the Edo Assembly, Hon. Emmanuel Agbaje said the locality has been in bondage under outgoing Governor Obaseki regime.
He debinked the notion by Obaseki cronies that he and his colleagues collected money to remain in his party, APC, saying the lie was not only misleading but unfounded.
He said it was Governor Obaseki who actually tried to induce them in a desperate bid to follow him to PDP, a move which failed, "hence his resort to attempts by him to blackmail us. The Governor’s actions arrested development in our constituency and that was why we decided not to follow anymore".
Former deputy speaker Yekini Idiaye, representing Akoko-Edo constituency 1 at the Edo Assembly, Deputy leader of the National Assembly, Hon. Peter Akpatason and Senator Francis Alimekhena were all agreed that Obaseki for four years relegated Akoko-Edo and Edo North and urged the people to vote APC at the September polls#.
