The APC candidate in the Edo state governorship election, Pastor Osagie Ize-Iyamu has said that the core of the Security and Social Welfare component of his Manifesto, the Simple Agenda is, “to make Edolites sleep with their two eyes closed, once again”.

In an interview with AgbakaMedia in Benin City, he promised drastic changes in the security system in the state with the coming APC government which he will head as Governor with his running mate, Mallam Gani Audu, as deputy governor, after his victory in the September 19, 2020 election.

Among the changes he said are a new security architecture, which will ensure adequate provision of materials and institutional support for the Police and other security agencies and the creation of an emergency system with a 911 call line to which citizens in distress can easily call.

He also said that his government will involve all stakeholders in Edo communities, and, “…partner with the traditional rulers, village heads, school authorities and religious organizations in our quest to find a pragmatic and lasting solution to kidnapping and frequent brawls at public places”.

According to Pastor Ize-Iyamu, an Edo State Security Trust Fund, “will be established as a special purpose vehicle to mobilize funding for the security agencies on a sustainable basis” along with a “community policing Program involving neighborhood watch and vigilante groups”, in rural and urban areas.

He said that although the potentials of Edo state are huge in terms of its ability to attract tourists, investments and quality jobs, the current insecurity situation in the state has remained a major handicap.

“Many of those in diaspora have demonstrated their willingness to come home and invest their skills and material resources for the state‚Äôs development”, adding that as a government, “We will provide an enabling environment for our people so that they can channel investments back to our state”.

Meanwhile, Pastor Osagie Ize-Iyamu has called on APC supporters across the state to shun all forms of violence inspite of provocations, and as eligible voters safeguard their PVCs so that they can vote APC, on Election day.
