APC candidate in the September 19, 2020 Edo State governorship election, Pastor Osagie Ize-Iyamu has said that he will initiate policies that will protect widows and children of the deceased from harassment and intimidation, once he is sworn in as Governor.He said he will also ensure that such policies are enforced so that widows and children of the deceased can have guaranteed easy access to the estate, pension and other assets or benefits of the deceased.The APC candidate who disclosed this in an interview with AgbakaMedia said his plan for widows is just one aspect of the Security and Social Welfare component of his manifesto, the Simple Agenda.The other aspects he said are the introduction of Social Security Number, creation of social welfare offices, protection for the vulnerable and persons with disabilities, and the establishment of the Edo State Employment Bureau.He said, “Our administration will develop a comprehensive plan to make social welfare programs work for our people. Every resident of Edo State will be allotted a personalized life time Social Security Number”.The Frontline governorship candidate said his government will create social welfare offices which will be empowered by law, ” to adjudicate on matrimonial problems and help resolve them through family counseling and mediating services”, in the three senatorial districts of the state.While promising to solve the problem of irregularity that attends the payment to pensioners in the state, he spoke of plans to initiate ,”appropriate legislation and initiatives that will protect the vulnerable and disabled persons in our state from discrimination and exploitation”.To cater for the unemployed in the state, Pastor Ize-Iyamu said his government will establish the Edo State Employment Bureau (ESEB) with responsibility, ” for identifying and capturing them in a database that would include their qualifications”.Meanwhile the APC candidate says that Child labor and abuse will be discouraged by his government but with proper enlightenment of the provisions of the child protection law to ensure its enforcement.#EdoforAPC
