A responsible State government which is concerned about the people must employ experts and professionals to advise it on the best hygienic conditions for drilling borehole water for domestic use and irrigation.
The candidate of the All Progressives Congress (APC) in the September 19 Edo governorship election, Pastor Osagie Ize-Iyamu, stated this weekend in Benin City and said potable hygienic supply is a priority of his manifesto, the Simple Agenda under the Infrastructural development and urban renewal plan.
To this end he said, upon taking office as Governor following his victory in the September 19, 2020 Edo governorship elections, his government, “will reform and invest in Edo State Urban Water Board to boost the provision of potable drinking water across the state”.
He said, “We will de-emphasize the present over-reliance on borehole water. To this end, we shall embark on the construction of public water works in selected community clusters across the state”.
He said his government will, “vigorously pursue international funding for major water projects in our determination to revamp the public water works department, and then embark on the, “resuscitation, expansion and modernization of all existing Water Schemes, such as Ikpoba River Dam, Ugbialo Water Works, Ojirami Dam, and others across the state”.
On the Water problem in most parts of Edo Central Senatorial district, the APC candidate said it will be given top priority and vigorously addressed and solved.
Meanwhile, Pastor Ize-Iyamu has assured that the modernization policies and programmes in the Water sector are expected to help generate at least 10,000 new construction jobs and safeguard over 3,000 jobs over a four-year period.
