Edo APC candidate, Pastor Osagie Ize-Iyamu on Sunday called out outgoing Governor Godwin Obaseki for diverting funds meant for the development of a viable community like Okpella in Etsako East Local government area of the state.
Ize-Iyamu during a visit to the Council of traditional chiefs at the palace of the Okuokpellagbe of Okpella lamented the absence of basic amenities like motorable roads, potable water and healthcare facility in a place beaming with solid minerals and contributing millions, regularly in revenue to the State.
“Okpella is one community that is extremely viable, it is one community that God has blessed, it is one community that generates revenue for Edo state government. It is sad that government has neglected the people”.
From BUA cement trucks alone, he said the government gets N15million monthly, adding, “calculate that in four years and you will arrive at about N2billion, yet there is no sign of government presence in the area! Should such a government be allowed to continue? And the answer is NO!”
The APC candidate said “I do not know if the community is aware that on the 20th of May last year, BUA Cement gave Edo state N2Billion on behalf of Okpella community. Looking around it’s clear that the community never benefitted from that money”.
Pastor Ize-Iyamu added, “Even when communities do not bring money, government has a duty to develop the place not to talk about when a community generates money”.
He however assured the chiefs that things will be different when the APC is voted into office with his election as governor as he will ensure the construction of roads in Okpella, to make it more viable and developed to attract more industries like BUA.
He condoled with the Council of Chiefs, the Okpella community over the passing of their traditional ruler, introduced his running mate, Mallam Gani Audu and presented them with copies of the Simple Agenda.
And to prevent the PDP which he said doesn’t have any solution to the problems of Edo state from retaining power in State, he urged mass vote for APC on September 19th, 2020 so he can take office to deliver on his promises in the SIMPLE Agenda thereafter.
From the Okuokpellagbe of Okpella’s palace, Pastor Osagie Ize-iyamu moved to Awoyemi ward where he lampooned Governor Obaseki for illegally suspending the Local Government Chairman, Hon. Alhaji Aremiyau Momoh aka Mbakwe, for not supporting his reelection bid.
He said, “The illegally suspended chairman would have done a lot more for the community with the way he started but because of Obaseki’s ineptitude, the locality have been greatly deprived of quality development”.
The APC candidate was also at Imiekuri, Iddo, Afokpela wards all in Okpella where he emphasized that with his manifesto, the Simple Agenda, change was coming to them once he is sworn in on November 12, 2020 as the State governor.
