Volunteers on contract of the Edo state government who help to enforce regulations on public safety and order, will henceforth be penalized for unwholesome activities.

Mr Mukhtar Yusuf-Osagie listed extortion and maltreatment of traders and commercial vehicle drivers as some of these activities.

Mr Mukhtar Yusuf-Osagie urged members of the public to report any volunteer found extorting money or manhandling street traders or drivers by calling either of two numbers. They are 07049094137 or 09025093814.

He said that all commercial vehicle drivers are expected to operate in their different designated parks, adding that street traders have been mandated to go back to their respective market places for trading.

He appealed to commercial motorists to watch out for road signs while advising them against picking or dropping passengers in prohibited areas.

Yusuf-Osagie said that all union workers have been mandated to return to their union parks for union activities, adding that no union worker should be seen in government prohibited areas.
