A Nigerian lawmaker, Victor Mela who lied on oath about his citizenship is to spend one month in jail.
However the court which sentenced him has given him the option of paying a fine.
The House of Representatives member, was found guilty by a Magistrate Court in Wuse, Zone 6, which gave the judgement on Friday.
DALY POST reports that Mela is of Billiri/Balanga Federal Constituency.
On November 10, he was found guilty of lying under oath in his CD001 INEC form submitted ahead of the 2019 general.
The court discovered that Mela has a British passport.
