A man and his wife who were kidnapped by heavily armed men on Monday afternoon at Ewatto in Esan Southeast local government area of Edo state are still at large.
The couple were travelling along the Ewatto – Ubiaja road, approaching the bridge on Ellah River, when the gunmen suspected to be herdsmen, opened fire on their vehicle, forcing them to a halt.
Thereafter they were dragged off the vehicle by the herdsmen, into the bush and has not been heard from eversince.
Sources say the vehicle the couple drove in, lie abandoned at the scene of crime while academic activities at Iriwa Primary school reportedly failed to hold today.
It was gathered that the victims, Mr and Mrs Paul Aluola regularly travelled on the road which links Edo and Delta state through Agbor,
Ekpon, Ewohimi and Ewatto.
Mr Aluola is said to be a Teacher in Iriwa Primary School, Ohordua, while his wife is a petty trader.
