I am delighted to present to you some modest achievements made by the Command in the past two weeks. As we gradually exit 2020 and approach 2021, we have continued to discharge our constitutional responsibilities aimed at protecting lives and property by striving to prevent crime and criminality. However, there have been reported cases of kidnapping inter-cult rivalry clashes in the state; they are being painstakingly looked into with a view to sniffing out the perpetrators wherever they hibernate. To this end, the achievements made are presented hereunder;

2. Achievements
A. Arrest of Armed Robbers
i. On 17/11/2020, at about 1200hrs, operatives while on township patrol along Lagos Street in conjunction with some local vigilantes arrested five suspected armed robbers namely; Kelvin Odinje ‘M’, Emmanuel Okafor ‘m’, Eric Ojowe ‘m’, Gbenga Raymond ‘m’, Daniel Ibanga ‘m’. When searched, four assorted laptops, five assorted handsets and one G-Tab belonging to Michael Stephen ‘m’, Bakare Adewale ‘m’, Bakare Adewale ‘m’ and Jennifer Osayande ‘f’ were recovered from the suspects.
ii. On 20/11/2020, one Obinna Nwigbo ‘m’ of no fixed address who was hired by Sunny Oboyo ‘m’ to convey him to an agreed location was arrested for allegedly robbing the said Sunny Oboyo ‘m’ of the sum of #1,000,000.00. One red daylong motorcycle with Reg. No. UBJ-325-VS was recovered.
iii. On 21/11/2020 at about 0145hrs two suspected armed robbers namely Ehis Ahunmwan ‘m’ and Stanley Obiora ‘m’ were arrested by the Police and vigilantes along General Hospital Road, off Nomayo Street, Upper Sakponba Road, Benin City. One locally made single barrel gun with one live cartridge were recovered from them.

iv. On 24/11/2020 six armed robbery suspects namely; Samuel Nweshi `m’, Kingsley Efe `m’, Frank Roland ‘m’, Chidera Joel ‘m’, Godstime Johnbull ‘m’ and Uyi Osagie ‘m’ were arrested at Uneru Street, off Sakponba Road, Benin City. They confessed being members of armed robbery gang terrorizing Upper Sakponba Road and environs. Case is still under investigation. The following items were recovered from them:
i. One locally made pistol
ii. One Lexus Saloon Car
iii. Three Plasma TV
iv. Two Standing Fan
v. Two Wolfer Speaker
vi. One JVC home Thither Machine
vii. One HP Lap Top
viii. One Senwel Generator
ix. Sim cards of different Network
x. Some quantity of weed suspected to be Indian Herm
xi. Four women hand bags
xii. Six Nokia Phones
xiii. Two pieces of wrappers
xiv. One Police Belt
xv. One Pair of One Police Inspector Rank
xvi. One Army Camouflage Cap

v. On 22/11/2020 at about 0305hrs, one suspected armed robber namely Stanley Aghede ‘m’, was arrested with a toy gun by the Police along the Bye-Pass in Ikpoba-Okha Local Government Area of Edo State. When searched, cash sum of N8,790.00, eight assorted phones, three wristwatches, one trailer shock observer, sets of brake pads were recovered from him.

vi. On 28/11/2020 at about 1340hrs, operatives from Anti-Cultism Unit acting on distress call received from residents of Ugbiyoko along Ekewan Raod, Benin City about the activities of hoodlums in the area, recovered one AK-47 rifle with breach No. 5571 and an unregistered Toyota Camry Saloon Car after a gun duel. The robbers had earlier snatched the vehicle from one Andrew Taiwo ‘m’ at Siluko road, Benin City.
vii. On 26/11/2020 one suspected cultist cum armed robber namely Edobor Lucky ‘m’ was arrested by operatives of Edo State Command at Ekiadolor area of Edo State with one locally made gun and two live cartridges.
viii. Four suspected armed robbers namely Ejike Nwoke Michael `m’, Courage Osaboyan ‘m’, Pascal Udochuwu ‘m’ and Effi ong Sunday ‘m’ were arrested on 25/11/20. The following items were recovered from them:
One English revolver pistol,
Five locally made guns
Two expended cartridges and a VGN cap
One Toyota Camry Saloon Car with Reg. No. BEN-355-HK
One Toyota Corolla Saloon Car with Reg. No. LSD-176-FB
Two Booklets of receipt
B. Arrest of kidnappers:
i. Four suspected kidnappers namely; Waibowei Edoivebi ‘m’, Godwin Pererich ‘m’, Samual Edosodion ‘m’ and Friday Osege ‘m’ were arrested by officers of the Nigerian Army and handed over to the Command, the case is still under investigation and will be charged to court upon completion of investigation.
C. Arrest of Cultists:
Seven suspected cultists namely; Pius Ogbeide `m’, Sunday Imonisa ‘m’, Kelvin Obiohun ‘m’, Osayamen Agho `m’, Jeremiah Udo ‘m’, Osaretin Igbinosun ‘m’, Nicholas Obasuyi ‘m’, were arrested at different locations in the state for engaging in disturbance of public peace, vandalism and cult related activities. The following items were recovered from them:
i. One locally made gun
ii. One POS Terminal
iii. Assorted SIM cards of different Network
iv. Assorted ATM cards of different banks
v. Bunch of keys
vi. Two live cartridges
C. Arrest of Custodial Centre Escapees:
Three hardened criminals namely Osamuyi Omoregbe ‘m’, Raymond Aimua ‘m’ and Omon Ayo ‘m’ remanded at the two custodial centres in Benin, but were liberated during the EndSARS protest have been rearrested for committing yet other crimes.

4. As we approach the yuletide season, the Police will not rest on its oars until all the arms and ammunition carted away by the hoodlums, aftermath of EndSARS protest are recovered and escapees from Benin and Oko Custodial Centres rearrested. The criminal elements resident in the Edo State will not know peace while those planning incursion from contiguous states are warned to steer clear as the Police Command is fully prepared to wage war against them.
