The Senator representing Edo Central in the Nigerian National Assembly, Abuja, Mr Clifford Ordia has described as worrisome the news of the attacks and kidnap of unsuspecting Nigerians along the Benin-Ekpoma-Auchi Road.
He said the situation which in the last few weeks has seen the incessant killing of scores of travellers and abduction of several others at gun point is really disturbing and unfortunate.
“The primary responsibility of Government is the security and welfare of its citizens. The fact that Nigerians can no longer go on with their daily activities peacefully without fear of mayhem being unleashed on them by some unscrupulous, unpatriotic and criminal minded elements in our country, is sad.
“I therefore call on all security agencies to join hands in droves in swinging into prompt action towards ensuring that the kidnapped victims are released unhurt and the culprits are brought to book.
“As your representative in the Upper Chambers of the Legislative Arm of Government, I am already lending my voice to the ongoing debate on rejigging the security architecture of our dear country and also reforming the Nigerian Police Force so that Nigerians can have a safe and peaceful society where everyone can go about his or her lawful duties unhindered”, the Senator said.
