Majority Leader of the factional Edo State Assembly, Henry Okhuarobo, has advised Edo state Governor, Mr Godwin Obaseki to plan well within available state resources to actualise his second term mandate to Make Edo Great Again.
He said despite the recession in the country, the news surrounding the corona virus and lack of foreign investments, he is confident that the governor will live up to public expectations.
“From what I can already see there will be reduced political and more governance. I can see a focussed gentleman who is ready to deliver on his mandate”.
He add, “And we (Edo assembly) are all ready to partner with him especially in the area of infrastructure: roads, health centres, electricity and other areas, where our people are still in pains”.
Okhuarobo said the governor must as a priority invest more in the rehabilitation of Secondary schools, in the state in terms of infrastructure and employment of personnel like he did with primary schools during his first tenure.
“I know a lot was done for the primary schools but the secondary schools were not attended to in the first tenure and he promised that secondary education will get more prominence in his second term. I hope that will be done”.
Meanwhile the lawmaker has said that there was no need stampeding the Governor who has just entered the second month approaching 100days of his second tenure.
He said, “I don’t think there is any magic wand about hundred days. My thinking is that he should plan well within available resources. We all know what is confronting the country. We know about Covid, lack of investments viasvis the revenue he is able to generate”.
He then commended the governor on the Independent Power Project with a Chinese firm which has resulted in the electrification of the stadium, the state secretariat and many government offices in Benin City, the state capital.
According to him, “We are very aware that not just Samuel Ogbemudia stadium there are a lot of other areas that are going to be lighted up soon. This is a milestone. We are so happy about this power project and others seeing the light of day”.
