The US Electoral College will today, Monday elect to formally recognize Mr Joe Biden as the next President of the United States of America. He will take office on January 20, 2021.

Each of the 50 states in the country and the District of Columbia have certified their votes and Biden won with 51.3% or 81.3million votes while Mr Donald Trump, the outgoing President secured 46.8% or 74 2million votes.
Biden has 306 of the 538 electoral votes with Trump having 234 while a victor must have 270 electoral votes to emerge President.
Those voting in the electoral college are local political officials or activists, civil society figures or friends of candidates.
