A philanthropist at Ubiaja, headquarters of Esan Southeast local government area of Edo state, Engr. Harrison O. Asuelimen has donated 15 motorcycles to the community as part of his effort to reduce unemployment among the youths and boost the local economy.
The occasion during this year’s annual Urhuen, the Ubiaja new yam festival which held at the weekend in Urhuen Community, Ubiaja, saw Chief John Odigie, the Oniha of Ubiaja who is also the chairman of Esan South-East Council of Chiefs praying for God’s guidance and blessings for the donor.
Chief Odigie used the ceremony to advise other welltodo Ubiaja sons to emulate the philanthropic gestures of Engr. Harrison Asuelimen so as to empower more youths in the community.
He said, “Engr. Harrison Asuelimen has been empowering youths in our community and beyond. He is by this gesture also assisting the government. I urge other wealthy sons and daughters to emulate him by using their resources to empower more youths in our community as this will promote the development of Ubiaja.”
The Urhuen New Yam Festival which is one of the cultural festivals of Ubiaja people is usually celebrated amidst pomp and pageantry with Members of the community at home and abroad coming home to taste of the New Yam.
